is a tough sport

From 9 to 17 June in Brno, Group B qualification for the European Championship in wheelchair basketball took place. My friend was one of the organisers, friends from ParaCENTRE play on wheels, and I wanted to test how my 80-200 performs indoors — so I went and watched the opening match.

I made it in time for the opening ceremony. I'd already spotted the Israeli athletes' security detail beforehand — hard to miss. After a lively welcome for all teams including the home side, all the important people gave their speeches and preparations began for the opening match between the Czech team and Austria. I had the chance to get in a basketball wheelchair and try it out. But watching the way the guys rode those things, crashing into each other… my mind couldn't quite process it at times. There were some really hard clashes, sometimes ending with a tipped wheelchair and a player on the floor.

I was happy with the lens. It was incredibly fast, accurate, and let in plenty of light. I did have to raise ISO, but it's barely visible in the final shots. Really satisfied. Our team won in overtime after a tough fight — and eventually won the whole tournament!
