Crossing the pond

LHR > IAD

The flight takes just over 8 hours. We flew on a B777ER, which means a bit more room — though also a 3-3-3 configuration. The entertainment selection on the screen in front of me was fairly decent — I managed to watch a film, 4 episodes of a series, and still had time to put on a Vienna Philharmonic concert. The British Airways crew was warm and helpful.

The return journey is an hour shorter, maybe more. On the way back the wind is usually favourable (the onboard system was showing over 100 mph). This time we were on the narrower B767ER — a 2-3-2 configuration means a little less room. However, evening flights tend not to be as full, so I had an entire row to myself. The entertainment system, which probably remembers the year 2000, had a poor selection — so I opted for classical music and went to sleep. The cabin crew was excellent again!
