The experience of filing a property tax return

Property tax returns have to be filed by the end of January. So I started filling mine in via the much-promoted Moje daně portal. Disappointment came quickly — it launched the ePO module. I followed the wizard and filled in the individual details. Everything is in the land registry, so you search in one window and type in the other. Then you hit the coefficient — 1.20 or 1.22? Based on an article on penize.cz I went with 1.20 and continued. Saved the result and submitted the form through the Moje daně portal.

In the context of the new portal version for individual income tax returns, this is a major disappointment. Not at all intuitive, and a large portion of the data could be pulled by the state directly from the land registry… except the flat area. But from previous tax returns, provided the property isn't newly built, the state must have that! It could be so simple.

Update 2 February 2022 — I got it wrong.
The coefficient is not 1.20 but 1.22! On top of that I don't need to deal with the plot, and the dimension is larger too… I followed the wizard to find those details and it was wrong. Understood. The cherry on top is that you can't correct it electronically — you have to print it, sign it, and send it by post!
