Smartwatch
I'd been thinking about a smartwatch for a long time. I wanted to know how fast I run, what my pace is. How many steps I take in a day... and I'd also like to know how far I've swum, and so on. So I searched until I found it: Garmin Instinct Tactical. Why those in particular?
They can work with GPS, GALILEO and GLONASS, have a 3-axis compass, barometric altimeter and accelerometer. The build meets the military standard (MIL-STD-810G) for increased resistance to high and low temperatures, impacts and vibrations, water and humidity. They're waterproof to 10 ATM, so swimming is no problem. They're compatible with night vision devices and allow you to disable all wireless functions (stealth mode). They support MGRS coordinate format.
In terms of feel, the watch is much larger than classic PRIMky. However, it's lighter. The phone notifications are useful — handy when someone calls. An interesting feature is sleep tracking. But the main activity tracking functions — running, hiking, working out — are exactly as I'd expect. We'll see how they perform for navigation in the field.
Very happy with them so far.
