For an online course at Czechitas

My colleagues who teach the online security course with me were asked to record a video version of selected chapters. I was assigned login security (passwords, 2FA, SSO) and WiFi. I just updated the presentation with current data. The hardest part is getting your thoughts in order — making it concise and clear. I'd compare it to preparing to present at a conference. Where most of the time goes into preparing the first presentation, and then it gets easier and easier as you get into it.

I arrived on time, got a microphone, and we got started. A green screen behind me, we agreed on the format — opening statement to camera, same for the closing. Action! I managed to speak for about 17 minutes straight, which is apparently quite a lot. After finishing one section we decided it might be worth re-recording the start to warm up into it. Sure, no problem.

The catch is that when you're concentrating on what you want to say and how you want to say it, you can sometimes jump ahead and some nonsense comes out. So take it again… Same when a barking dog interrupted us, or a car drove past. Can't be helped. In the end we got through it in about two hours and twenty minutes. From here it's up to the studio — edit it, incorporate the presentation (I was recording my screen). I'm curious to see the final result.
