in a theatre

...just after a ballet performance starts, it's not great for the performers. I hadn't been to ballet before, so I couldn't judge how much they'd notice it or be thrown off by it. But stepping on broken glass is something nobody wants to do, especially when you're dancing barefoot. And so a broom appeared on stage. It was quite an amusing sight at times — especially at the moment when all you could see was the broom... Nobody got hurt and it was worth seeing.
