Phishing, securing social media and passwords — topics of the workshop

Over the autumn I got the chance to take part in a one-day security workshop. Thanks to my job I also helped shape the content. Since there's no shortage of interesting topics, we decided to focus on three main areas:

  • What's happening on the internet (what threats users face, current trends, who the attackers are, ...)
  • Social media (how to set up privacy, how to spot a fake profile, what not to post and why, ...)
  • Authentication (setting up two-factor login, why longer passwords matter, and setting up a password manager)

We also touched on wireless networks and VPN.

The feedback was more than positive, which I'm really happy about. There are still a few more sessions lined up — I'm confident we'll keep the rating.
