I own a Turris — the first generation. And this is its successor.

I can no longer imagine using an off-the-shelf WiFi router. Especially not now that I know more about vulnerabilities and manufacturers' update policies.

When CZ.NIC launched the crowdfunding campaign for the commercial version of this router I was thrilled and ordered straight away. Updates matter! On top of that I get two WiFi cards (2.4 and 5 GHz), 2× USB 3.0, an SFP port, and a SIM card slot. I should also mention the clean GUI with detailed configuration options — what you can't do in the GUI you can do in the CLI. If you use home automation the Omnia can serve as a gateway for all of that too. Even so, I've had a few minor issues.

Expecting closer engagement with the user, I wanted to take part in data collection. After ticking the relevant option, the data wasn't being sent. Imagine my surprise when I found out I had to enable the same option a second time in the settings. It feels slightly "user unfriendly." Other than that, I can recommend the Omnia to everyone!

It's an excellent choice.
