I had the chance to take part in one of the workshops at the photography school Photogenia.

After a thorough introductory briefing on how a model is made up, we moved on to lights and lighting. This was exactly the part that interested me most. Working with light is the foundation of success. We used Swedish Profoto flashes with reflectors. As I discovered later, a softbox is for amateurs — everyone has one. From personal experience I have to say that light control is far better with reflectors. Since then I've been thinking about which reflector might work for me. I just need to check whether a Bowens bayonet reflector will fit my flashes. If it does, it'll be huge...

The one minor downside is that the flashes can't be connected to a battery pack. But you can't have everything...
