One of the advantages of major transport hubs is how well they connect to multiple modes of transport.

Frankfurt airport offers connections not just by air but also by train. I used the long-distance rail link — an ICE. I was worried that my luggage would still be in the hall by the time my connection left. How wrong I was! I'd barely reached the baggage claim when the bags started coming out. Then all that remained was to find my way out of the terminal and to the train terminal. It's not exactly close but everything is clearly signposted. I even made an earlier train. To put it in time terms: from leaving the plane, through collecting my suitcase, and boarding the train took less than 30 minutes. I should mention I had my train ticket purchased in advance.
