New Android, 6

Motorola Moto E 2nd 4G owners have finally got what they were waiting for! The update to Android M (6.0) is available. It's approximately 530 MB, with an estimated install time of 30 minutes. My XT1524 was previously running Android 5.0.2 — an upgrade to 5.1 was never announced. After Motorola announced that the Moto E 2015 would be among phones receiving Android M, it was therefore expected that the jump would go straight to Android 6.0. What changes can you expect compared to Android L? The boot splash screen changed to a "spinner". The previous globe was more fun. SD card support is handled differently from Android L — the card is either integrated into the system (apps can be moved to it automatically) or just used as extra data storage (music, photos, but not apps). Do Not Disturb mode — Motorola had to drop its own app, but DND as part of Android M is brilliant! The Motorola app was great, but this you'll love. Based on configured rules, the phone switches between several modes (do not disturb, disturb only from certain people, only for certain events, or normal mode). Naturally it's not for people who want to know about everything all the time — but if you don't want to be a slave to modern technology, it's a fantastic feature. I only miss multi-calendar support. The notification panel and quick settings have been slightly reworked — with one click you can toggle both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The aforementioned DND has been added. I mustn't forget per-app permission control. Battery life I'll be able to properly assess after extended use, to make it at least somewhat objective.
