I got an SMS from the bank

I was a little alarmed... my bank is telling me there's been a data leak involving my payment card! A nightmare. Quick, open George and block the card — I wasn't home at the time, so I blocked it and planned to deal with it properly once I got back.

Varovná SMS z České spořitelny

Once I got home I dialled in and after a brief argument with the automated system about what I wanted... no, I do NOT want to block my Visa payment card!... it finally put me through to a human. The lady was very kind and we figured out why it happened, what triggered the warning... three attempts to charge the card, three? Interesting — it was Patreon. For some mysterious reason the bank had flagged those transactions as suspicious and blocked them... card unblocked, everything working as it should again.

False positive.

P.S. The lady and I had a bit of a chat... she complimented me on using virtual cards and we both shook our heads at how people can fall for scams and send such amounts to fraudsters. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's always left speechless. On the other hand, awareness and education are needed. I'm glad nothing serious happened. I tested the process and can tell others how well it works.
