ICE is the most sensible mode of transport between cities in Germany.

I'm not saying domestic flights aren't busy — because that's not true. But fast rail connections are exactly what you look for when travelling across a significant part of the country. My route was from Frankfurt Airport to Mannheim — a short hop. No long distance at all. And yet it left a lasting impression. The journey was fast and quiet! Comparing it to a train on the Czech corridor is telling. A huge bonus is the fully low-floor train. I'm not just talking about easier travel for people with disabilities — that goes without saying. I mean the space that opens up inside the carriage. It's enormous! And the best part... you travel as if on a German motorway — 200 km/h.
