We choose to go to the Moon
After a long time I decided to buy some LEGO again. The choice was clear: Saturn V and Eagle, Apollo 11. As a kid I had a few sets — but compared to these boxes they were tiny. Together nearly 3,000 pieces.
Eagle
The whole construction is impressive, detailed, and functional. You can detach the ascent stage, open the module hatch, angle the thrusters, and so on. Something I encountered for the first time here was stickers. The Eagle was covered with foil to protect it from meteorites — on this model that's represented by a gold sticker.
Saturn V
If you've ever seen a Saturn V at full scale, you'll be surprised how big, heavy, and sturdy the model is. The construction is logical and everything important serves its function — check out the video. My one complaint is that the most critical stage (S-IVB) doesn't separate quite faithfully, which is a shame. The docking interface between the Command Module and the Lunar Module could also use a small improvement.
