The first of May marked ten years since the Czech Republic joined the EU.

To mark the anniversary, Brno Philharmonic decided to perform the Fate Symphony (Symphony No. 5 in C minor). I bought the tickets online, printed them, and then all I had to do was take my seat. Next time I'll sit closer to the centre — the balcony isn't ideal, both in terms of sound and the overall view of the orchestra. I'd heard the concert a few times on CD or via stream, but live music is something else entirely. It was an amazing experience, and also my first Brno Philharmonic concert.

And I'll be going again.
