I only came to appreciate this combination now.
Obviously for sports or dress shoes I use socks appropriate for them. But where I went badly wrong was with my Mammut Chalk shoes. They're comfortable and at the same time very lightweight multifunctional shoes — ideal for everyday city wear. They're made for Mammut by Raichle. Until autumn I'd repeatedly ended up with blisters on the outer ankle after walking in them for a while. Spraying the shoe, breaking it in, stretching it, and various other methods to soften the leather — none of it helped. Until one day I reached for different socks. I should note that until then I'd tried thin hiking socks, regular ankle socks, and slightly higher-cut socks.
The problem was solved, and I even found another style that works. And to think I was about to give up on them... They really are amazing shoes!
