What it's like to roll a car

At the Science Festival with ABB I got to try out a car rollover simulator. From the outside, watching others go through it looks pretty chill. The feeling from inside is a whole different story!

I sat down, buckled up, adjusted the seat, and grabbed the wheel properly. The car accelerated, hit something, and started rotating (clockwise). What I hadn't mentioned — my shoulder bag was behind the seat, camera and travel journal inside.

When we'd rotated about 120° the bag started shifting position. After completing the first rotation it ended up somewhere behind me, contents still inside. On the second rotation (counter-clockwise) though, everything flew out across the car. I watched the camera sail past the passenger seat — not to mention my stainless steel pen, which went flying too.

I collected everything — nothing was damaged. After that experience I'll be a lot more careful about leaving unsecured stuff lying around in a car.

First-hand experience — priceless!
