A one-day trip to RaxAlp

Since we were already in Semmering and close to RaxAlp, we decided to spend a day going there. We bought the tickets (QR code) online — valid all the way to the cable car (the ticket also covers the bus). You can also buy the cable car ticket in advance. The ride takes a few minutes and is quite brisk. The view from the upper station is worth it — the surrounding area spread out before you.

RaxAlp isn't particularly rugged (at least in the part we visited), though there are some decent ups and downs. We decided to do a loop along the red and blue trails to Preinerwand-Kreuz, refuelled at the Seehütte, and headed back. The views into the valley were stunning. The weather really favoured us — not too windy, a few clouds here and there and sunshine.

The trip was definitely worth it! We saw beautiful scenery, got a bit of a tan, and saw a landscape quite different from the area around Semmering.

One day isn't enough to see it properly — two or three would be better. With an overnight stay at one of the many mountain huts, obviously.
