My first e-ink display
At the BSides Prague 2026 conference I stopped by the Pájeníčko stand and got nostalgic about secondary school... and found some inspiration. For a long time I've wanted a quick global overview of what it's like outside and what my weather station is measuring. The problem is that the data is either in an app or you have to go to a website. Netatmo has no display.
First I used AI to check the situation. Netatmo has an API that gives me what I need. I then process the data (calculating feels-like temperature) and send it to the living picture server. The trickiest part is assembling it all into a screen.
Claude Design drafted the layout for me based on my brief. If only you could flip it straight across... I wrestled with it a bit, but eventually got it working somehow. I compromised on some things, tweaked others... the result is nice and clean.
