Dressed for the theatre, but a different building.

I know the Janáček Theatre from concerts, but the versatility of its stage is remarkable. I have huge respect for the orchestra playing in such a confined space. It has to be said that Richard Wagner's music was interesting. I hadn't heard many of his pieces before. But some parts of The Flying Dutchman I'd happily listen to again. There were moments that weren't as gripping, though that happens at concerts too. I'll be honest — I only worked out the plot from what was happening on stage. I understand German, but when someone's singing it there's no chance. And watching subtitles at the top when the action is at the bottom… is unfortunate.

It was an interesting experience, and I'm not sure yet whether I'd want to repeat it.
