Tyre change, check-in, and waiting for luggage… that's Travel Service and Prague Airport for you!

Tyre change

When departing for Menorca we were supposed to board an aircraft that had just arrived from Bulgaria. It landed on time, about 45–60 minutes before our scheduled departure. But during refuelling a suspicious number of people started gathering around the right main landing gear. When a van with a trailer carrying a tyre showed up, it was obvious what was about to happen. A tyre change! Worth noting that none of this was visible from the gate. People there just waited and waited… no information whatsoever. After the change was done we boarded a few minutes later. What I'll never understand was the crew's subsequent "excuse" blaming a late arrival. The fact that the aircraft wasn't in a flight-worthy state they kept to themselves… or did the cabin crew not know either?

Waiting for luggage

We arrived back from Menorca just before midnight, by which time the airport isn't at full staff. Given the number of flights it's proportionate. Not that it surprised me that our baggage was still nowhere to be seen… but this was too much. We waited over an hour and a quarter. I don't understand and honestly don't want to understand what the Menzies people were doing in there — I'll genuinely never fly from Prague again.
