In my age group

On the night of 25–26 May 2021 vaccination registration opened for my age group. Before that I checked the status of my earlier registration (when only the highest-risk groups could register, it had been possible to register by manipulating input parameters due to missing validation) — it was invalid. So I cancelled that registration, purely to be safe and ensure a smooth process.

From publicly available sources I found out that registration actually opens at 23:00, not midnight as announced everywhere. The next important step was checking available slots using open data. Looking at the data, the vaccination centre at the Brno Exhibition Centre, Pavilion G2, was the best option.

A few minutes before midnight I had an SMS sent to me so I could fill in the questionnaire a minute before and submit it shortly after midnight. Everything went smoothly.

All that remained was waiting for an SMS with available slots. Nothing the first day, nothing the next either… then I looked at the data and it was clear that Brno was in the middle of a massive push to give second doses — hence very few first-dose slots. I finally got mine almost a week later: on the evening of 31 May an SMS came in and I grabbed the earliest available slot — 3 June 2021.
