For a long time beforehand, a friend had been hinting that I should photograph her classmate sometime.
I always worried that having someone else around would distract me during a shoot. Not at all. At first it looked like it was going to rain. It didn't, and the result was some great shots. I'll point out two of them. The first came about partly planned — she wanted a photo to put on her door so no one would disturb her. I can't even remember how she burst out laughing, but that gave the photo a completely different atmosphere. The second is in a field — a classic. What it is about that photo that hypnotises me I can't say; it has something that can't be described, it's simply good.
