I wrapped up this year's concert season with two concerts.

The first took place on a Friday evening in Svobody Square, the second was a Sunday and more celebratory affair — it was the Brno Philharmonic's closing concert of the season. Beatles Mania — even though I'm not a diehard Beatles fan, their repertoire isn't unfamiliar to me. In the Philharmonic's rendition it's an unconventional experience made all the more special by the setting. A great experience with a promise of more to come. In August of that year Queen Mania was on the programme. Mozart's Children — closing concert — the programme featured Czech masterpieces: From the Bohemian Forests and Groves, Taras Bulba, and From the New World. The last piece was also performed alongside the Philharmonic by talented pupils from the music school — "Mozart's Children." I have to say the concert was excellent. The New World symphony was unrecognisable from any recording I'd ever heard. Yes, at one point a wrong note was audible, but it wasn't so far off as to be ear-splitting. A great show, well worth attending again next year.
