How I flew a Cessna

I got the chance to fly a Cessna. It was a relatively short flight — 20 minutes over Brno, past the reservoir, Veveří Castle, the city centre, and back to the airfield.

I was quite nervous — after all, it's a small plane. Not a Boeing or an Airbus. Which is exactly why I was surprised by how smooth the flight was. The Cessna held steady, was easy to steer, gave you the right feedback. Personally I found flying it considerably more complex than a fighter jet (so many instruments, and the tower chiming in from time to time), but the speed was just right — slow enough to actually take in what was happening below.

The view was stunning — where the clouds broke there were spotlit patches of landscape, just beautiful to look at. I even managed to take a few photos.

Then came leaving the city centre, circling back to the airfield, and a happy landing. What an experience!

P.S. It's no joke finding a similarly sized aircraft on two hours — especially when you know it's coming at you. Wartime pilots were absolute legends!
